My students have been part of an English/Spanish Dual Immersion program since they were in kindergarten. They are bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural. They can speak, read, and write in both languages with fluency. They are caring and respectful of different cultures and people. They know that being bilingual is an important skill in our global society. I’m confident that our future is in good hands with such hard-working and thoughtful scholars. Their curiosity is contagious and I am honored to be their teacher. Fifth grade was my favorite school year growing up, and I hope they enjoy their last year in elementary school as much as I did!
The wobble chairs will make a positive difference in my students’ learning. Many of my students have a difficult time staying focused for long periods of time on traditional, hard, stationary classroom chairs. These wobble chairs will give them the opportunity to get their wiggles out while reading and writing independently or while collaborating with their peers on group projects. These special chairs can be easily moved to different areas of our classroom, and this will allow my 5th graders the experience of choosing where they want to sit. Giving students choices in their learning is very powerful- students become active participants in their road to success!
