Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fun, thoughtful and energetic little sponges that are full of questions! They thrive on hands-on, active, engaging challenges that allow them to think outside the norm. They enjoy activities that allow them to come up with more than one solution. They come to school every day wondering what can they put their hands on today. Truly, they make me smile every day and remind me the joys of being a kid.
My students come in with a mindset of what can I put my hands on today.
Each child in my classroom loves that we have hands on challenges. Each student's method of learning best vary. We create a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an inspiration to me every day. They never give up.
My Project
Kindergarten students love putting their hands on items. They learn by doing. When a student can place their hands on an items and manipulate it, they see how the ideas in their minds come to life.
Young minds asked the "what if questions".
What happens if I do this or if I change that? What if this doesn't fit, how can I change it to make it fit? Their minds are still growing and they don't have all the answers yet.
STEM activities allow young minds to create and use their imagination with everyday items. Students can actually have something in their hands and visualize how it is working. It allows them to use the creatvie thinking in ther brain and watch it come to life. STEM activities help answer that never ending WHY question.
