Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. I encourage my kindergarten students that I believe in them and that they can do anything! Our school is a Health Science Academy for the second year. As a team, we are looking into curriculum for nutrition and ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy. Our school serves TK-5 students. Our goal at our school is for all children to achieve to their best abilities and have fun! Our school is a great place to be!
My Project
Games give students opportunities to explore fundamental number concepts, such as the counting sequence, one-to-one correspondence, and computation strategies. Engaging mathematical games can also encourage students to explore number combinations, place value, patterns, and other important mathematical concepts. Further, they afford opportunities for students to deepen their mathematical understanding and reasoning. I like to provide repeated opportunities for students to play games, then let the mathematical ideas emerge as students notice new patterns, relationships, and strategies. Games are an important tool for learning in elementary school mathematics classrooms. Yes, FUN! We’ve come back full circle to the beginning. Kids respond to learning when engaged, challenged and enjoying their tasks.
