This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are the best band students! This year our theme for the year is "Musicians Under Construction" as we build musical leaders one day a time. We are located in the heart of the Piedmont Triad area in a Title 1 school. Many of our students do not have the resources to provide instruments even though they have the desire to learn. In addition, as our school has grown we have outgrown our current facility and will be finishing this current academic school year in a brand new building.

My students have a love of music, and teaching it to them each day brings me great joy.

It is because of this joy that I am passionate for them to have decent working equipment to work with each and every day. I do not believe that we can make the magic of music happen in the room without proper working equipment.

My Project

The ultimate goal for the percussion students in the program is music literacy. Our students should be able to read and perform music on the mallet keyboard percussion as well as the snare and bass drum. In order for that to happen we want students to have the opportunity to play on decent working mallets in class. These new mallets will enrich the percussionist with the tools needed to succeed.

You can not achieve results without the right materials.

I want my students to have the right materials in order to be successful in band. I want my program to be a great program for all of my students.
