Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine teaching directly across the street from a drug infested park amidst the inner city of Los Angeles! My poverty stricken students at McArthur Park Primary Center need engaging learning amidst a world of chaos.
My students lack basic literacy skills in their very own language.
I have three illiterate parents who are unable to help their students with homework. For this reason, I need to provide more fun, innovative school materials in the classroom since they don't have engaging materials at home. These students are eager to learn, but are limited in their resources. With your help, you can make a difference in their lives.
My Project
What fun it would be to create words with a magic board! Students would be enticed to use the attached magic pen to develop their literacy skills. Children would be delighted to snap letters together to form words with the word building blocks. A magnetic board would encourage them to form words independently. These activities would plant the seeds to become life long literacy experts.
You would make a difference in the lives of children by making learning hands-on and productive.
They would be motivated to attend school, away from their impoverished environment.
