Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students will be learning to code after school. We hope to enter coding competitions throughout the school year that will help them improve their skills and encourage their interest in coding.

The coding club will be made up of 9-12th grade girls.

We hope to begin with this club in August of 2018. We plan to participate in the Hour of Code during this school year as well as attend a conference/meeting where the students can compete with their coding knowledge and robots.

My Project

We are hoping to start a coding club. At first we plan to participate in the "Girls who Code" program. Later, once established, we plan to start up a Co-Ed coding club. Once we are able to purchase robots and coding books, the students will need iPads. We hope to get more than one iPad and eventually have one for each student to work with. The students are very excited to learn coding and be able to compete with other groups and possibly go places and meet guest speakers who can tell them about the importance of coding and careers available.
