My students need books! I am changing grade levels this year from first grade to sixth grade and my classroom library is limited. This incoming group of students are eager readers!
I will be teaching sixth grade reading at a school on the south side of Chicago. The students in this community are growing each day with their love of reading! My goal as their teacher is to have the students come into school everyday with big smiles and ready for their learning adventure to begin. Our classroom is in need of learning resources to help all of the students succeed! Creating a positive reading environment will give the students the confidence they need to succeed!
My Project
This school year, I am changing grade levels from first grade to sixth grade. My current library consists of primary selections and is in desperate need of age appropriate books. Seeing over 120 students a day, the range of reading abilities varies greatly. Having interesting book choices for all levels will help foster a positive reading environment. My goal is to create a comfortable reading corner with a library that meets the needs of all my readers. I want to instill and encourage a love of reading! Not only will the students be encouraged to free read with these selections, but the books will also be utilized in a small group setting to meet the needs all all reading levels.
