Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us get our goals...literally! With your support we would like to purchase soccer balls and portable goals to be used on a daily basis. This is not equipment that will ever be sitting in a corner gathering dust. My students are passionate about soccer and I want to encourage this passion.
This project will support 11th and 12th grade students at a continuation high school.
There are many negative stereotypes associated with continuation schools, but I want to assure you that on this campus there is a strong culture of redemption. My students work hard every day to prove to their teachers, peers and themselves that they are smart and capable and to get themselves back on the track to graduation.
My Project
Getting students excited about physical activity can be a challenge. However, since adding a soccer class to our PE program, interest in physical activity has soared and there is a waiting list to get into the class. In this class students learn the fundamentals of soccer and get plenty of cardiovascular exercise. In addition to our soccer class, we will be forming our first boys and girls soccer teams, which will represent our school in a local continuation high school soccer league. More than the equipment your donation will provide, you are giving our students the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills, as well as build and enhance school spirit and pride in our community.
Your support will allow students to build healthy exercise habits and learn valuable life skills.
