Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten as a special education teacher this year in an integrated co-teaching classroom. My classroom consists of 10 students with special needs and 15 students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. Students here are not only diverse academically, but economically and culturally as well. My students face many challenges every day, in school and out. My school has a very large population of low poverty, as well as children in shelters.

This year has brought many challenges to teachers, students, and their families.

This year I am teaching through a blended model. We follow a 3 week, 3 cohort schedule. Some days, I have 6-8 students in the classroom and the rest of the class is full remote. Some days, all 24 students are full remote. This has been extremely challenging!

My Project

This year has been extremely challenging since I am teaching both in person and remotely. It's not only double the planning, but it takes hours to take each plan and create an interactive online version of it.

With a gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers, I can purchase interactive Google Slides that have already been created by amazing teachers from all over.

TPT not only has digital resources, but it also has resources for in-school learning. It's a great website where creative teachers share lessons they have created. We pay for it because the resources on this website are very time consuming to create.
