My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous. They are extremely enthusiastic about digital projects, and definitely appreciate the emphasis on a tech-based curriculum. They use technology in class every day to access sites such as myOn, ST Math, Study Island, typing.com, Renaissance, and connectED. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in the state every year. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college.
These additional Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom including independent practice. They will be used every day for typing, researching, and practicing standard skills using various educational apps in: English, math, science, social studies. This technology will allow me to plan activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. Differentiated learning is crucial to a successful classroom, and we are not yet at the technological level to meet every student’s needs as learners—especially those without computer access at home—but with the funding of this project, that gap will be narrowed a little more.
