My students need innovative and hands on technology to extend our goals for well-rounded, global citizens. Students will be immersed into travel and biomes they may never get to see in person.

My Students

In the library, my space is huge and I have many printed texts but, I want student's learning to come alive by coupling their reading with hands on technology. We have 575 students currently enrolled in our elementary school that serves grades K-5.

Kids want to jump into an activity and be able to manipulate, experiment, watch, analyze, and synthesize their experiences.

They retain more information by being able to use their senses in the learning process. Children thrive on being exposed to different learning styles, hands on lessons, and on immersion into the information.

My Project

We want to reach every student in our school. Each child can have a different learning style. Some learn best by reading, or doing an activity with their hands, or listening to an auditory presentation.

I want to focus on infusing all students with the love of reading, exploration, and a sense of adventure by tying in virtual reality with our printed text/nonfiction books as well as enrich their classroom lessons.

Very few students are able to travel to see all the world has to offer. I want to promote global citizenship by giving kids a learning experience they may not be able to get anywhere else.

While seeing all students in my school as the media specialist, I would like to implement the Google Expedition VR classroom Kit. I have already raised funds for a set of 10 but, wish to purchase more to allow all students access to the materials.
