Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a low income school where 95% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Although they have some challenges, they come to school everyday ready to learn. The students come from families that are low income and therefore lack resources and opportunities. The school is part of the dual language curriculum, meaning that the students are receiving both English and Spanish instruction and students that are native Spanish speakers and native English speakers are in the same classroom. They love being introduced to new engaging and interactive lessons. They strive to become global learners in an ever-changing society through the use of critical thinking.
As victims of Hurricane Harvey my students are still recovering from damages that occurred around the neighborhood.
As we continue to recover and grow throughout the year, the school has become most students' safe space where they can be worry free about obstacles they might face at home. Although these students are economically disadvantaged they strive for their best and don't let anything get in their way.
My Project
First grade students are learning how to use computers in the classroom. I would like to teach them how to use a google classroom to further engage them in their learning. Students are learning new information everyday and by having a class set of chrome books students will be able to have a full lesson at the same time. Many schools are moving towards the one to one technology classroom to allow for individualized student work.
Along with google classroom that allows for electronic submission of assignments such as writing prompts, and math problem solving, students will be able to explore other learning websites.
Students will have an opportunity to each have time to practice skills they are learning.
Students living in the 21st century have a dire need to understand new technology that is quickly changing around them. Having HP Chromebooks will allow my students to use high technology that can be easily accessible. Having a classroom one-to-one with technology means that all of my students will have a chance to immerse themselves in the virtual learning where there is no wait time for the student's independent learning.
Our world is quickly changing and are students are expected to change with it especially with technology. These HP Chromebooks will help my students become independent, responsible and lead them to become global leaders.
