Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are beyond amazing! We are at a Title I school in Las Vegas, where many students believe New York or Paris is just a few miles away on the strip.This has to change!
I have adjusted the way I teach from a text, or a set curriculum, to teaching to experiences; my students have never soaked up so much information in all my twelve years of teaching.
We use challenging vocabulary words each week and thrive to find multiple ways to use them, whether it be watching a live feed of a lady "coax" an abandoned puppy from under a house (this went viral), or having a Glow Party to learn about odd and even numbers.
Our favorite was "traveling" to Italy for lunch and having to fix the menu that had no punctuation! I have never been so excited to go to work each day and my students that have attendance problems in the past are actually coming to school!

My Project
After five amazing years of having a Western-themed classroom, we are going BRIGHT! The possibility of looping with my students from 2nd to 3rd grade is of constant discussion, and I would love to start the school year with a brand new look for them!
Individual picture frames displaying each child's face and personal character trait will instantly turn our classroom into a welcoming atmosphere.
Bright lights, decorations, organization items, and a printer for printing important things in color will not only make learning more enjoyable, but it also lets my students know I care..and that this is important.
There is nothing worse than walking into a blank classroom as a student or a teacher. This classroom shows my fun, outgoing personality and will allow for my students to shine BRIGHT!
