Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mathematicians, writers, readers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers.
They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their lifelong education.
Many of the students in my school are being raised in low-income households and receive a free daily breakfast and lunch. With limited school supplies, it's difficult to teach fun and creatively. Despite these setbacks, I am hoping to inspire my students so that they continue on a path of academia and constant learning.
My Project
My students need writing supplies, so I'm requesting five heavy duty paper trays for each group in my class. Students will use these trays to hold the paper for writer's workshop. My students also need five sturdy one touch staplers. Students will use these to staple their wonderful stories. We'll be learning a new routine on how to set up for writer's workshop, so these materials are so essential to our day! Having materials for each group ensures that students won't be wasting time trying to find where the materials are.
In writer's workshop, I teach students that good writers need good writing tools.
Therefore, I'm also requesting five sturdy colored book bins, which will hold their writing folders. I will use the tape cover during my interactive read alouds to get my writers excited for writer's workshop!
