My students represent the best of the best we could hope for our future. They are bright, creative, confident, and compassionate. They come from families rich in culture and strong in values, creating an environment of love both in my school building and in their local community. Every day at school is a day where we all come together to grow and develop as better humans together.
As their teacher, I foster their strengths, support their needs, and prepare them for global citizenship.
I can identify their talents and abilities, but it is dramatically more powerful when they come to see their own strength on their own. In an effort to support this self-exploration and independence, I aim to create a learning environment that fosters strategic thinking and problem-solving​ skills.
My Project
For many years, I have set out morning work for my students to complete as they settle into the classroom each morning. And year after year, I find it tedious. For the students, the work is rarely at their "just right" level, and for me, it is an incredible amount of prep work.
So this year I am reimagining my students' transition to the classroom, starting with interactive, creative, engaging morning work tubs!
I have found a collection of resources from other educators, complete with activities and prompts for students to use, and now I need help acquiring the materials to make it happen. Now, my morning work can be something students look forward to each day!
