This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The supplies my students and I are requesting will allow us to have a safe and comfortable habitat for our soon to be classroom pet. Having the double cages will hopefully give more room to our guinea pig and give my students more room to sit around during observation time. Food and other essentials will allow my students to be prepared and have every thing they need before bringing our classroom pet into our classroom home.

Having a classroom pet will allow my students to have a sense of responsibility and respect the animals through daily observations and care.

We were lucky enough to receive Peter and Parker (our classroom lizards), from the science department but unfortunately they did not come with a habitat. This project would provide our pets with a nice warm habitat to be able to flourish in. I am hoping that these classroom pets will bring increased sensitivity and awareness of the feelings and needs of others-both animals and students. I want my students to be able to learn that all living things need more than just water and food to survive. My students need to be aware of how their behavior and actions affect others.
