Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 29 wonderful 5th-grade students, which include special education students, magnet students, English Language Learners, and intervention students. They are very enthusiastic about learning and are always eager to explore new things. They love coming to school every day, and always have a big smile on their faces, despite the socioeconomic hardships they endure in the community in which they live. They attend a school in California, in a low-income neighborhood. The school is both a regular and highly gifted/magnet institution. However, my students are part of the regular school and do not have access to the materials and enrichment activities that the magnet students have.
My Project
"Academic qualifications are important and so is financial education. They're both important and schools are forgetting one of them," said Robert Kiyosaki. This is true in our schools today. We are so preoccupied with teaching academics that we forget one of the basic life skills: managing money. That is why I am requesting 2 Breakout EDU kits to teach students how to solve problems with money. Students will work in groups to decide how it is best to spend, save and invest their money. The money games will help students to reinforce the basic money skills, such as identifying coins and bills and making change.
The skills and knowledge they gain will ensure that they become more aware of managing money and making responsible decisions when it comes to finances.
If students have these skills, they will lead a more financially secure life.
Your support will greatly impact the students' lives now and in the future. Thank you in advance for your support.
