My Students
My students come from many cultures, as well as varied socio-economic backgrounds. Our school is in a rural part of town surrounded by farmland and nestled at the base of rolling hills.
My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.
They are kind and compassionate. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet.
My Project
My first graders use writing implements on a daily basis in our classroom. By playing outside with Foxtails they will have an opportunity to strengthen their fine motor skills which will in turn improve their writing and seat work in the classroom.
Playing with these long-tailed soft balls will help them focus on an attainable goal while also improving their hand-eye coordination.
Learning to throw underhand is an important skill that many students do not practice outside of school. Foxtails provide may benefits including visual skills, bilateral coordination, fine motor, and gross motor skills. It is a simple game, played with one or many, that can provide much joy and satisfaction.
