I have an amazing set of reading intervention students in grades pre-K through fifth grade. I teach at a very diverse school in Minnesota. My school is classified as a high-poverty school with many students in the free or reduced-price lunch program.
My students have a wide variety of abilities, interests and challenges.
From learning support students, to English language learners, I am here to teach them all and give them the best education possible that meets their unique needs! My school rocks!
My Project
There is compelling evidence that interest is related to learning. The assumption is that students are more likely to attend to and learn from interesting materials as opposed to uninteresting materials.
Research has clearly demonstrated that interest has a powerful facilitative effect on cognitive functioning Therefore, I want to provide a variety of high-interest, high-level books for some of our excellent readers.
Each year we celebrate reading by focusing a lot of attention on the love of reading. Students participate in various reading centered activities. One of their favorites is a new book giveaway. At this book giveaway, I want to make sure all reading levels are accounted for. I am asking for books like Would You Rather?, Five Nights at Freddy's and The Fierce 44, just to name a few.
