Students today learn is all different ways. The visual component of graphic novels allows them to access a different part of the brain. The graphic novels are considered High/low books and are perfect for the readers who are not at grade level. The covers are striking and inviting.
We are a California K-6 school of 650 students.
We are ethnically diverse. We are a National School of Character, a California Distinguished School and are ranked a "10" in our state school ratings. Our mission statement is to provide a nurturing environment where students are empowered to maximize their learning potential in a diverse setting.
My Project
Graphic novels are the wave of the future. The covers capture the student's attention right from the start. Because they are high interest/low level books they are easy for all grades to read. They cover the spectrum of curriculum including fiction stories, biographies, mythology, super heroes, fairy tales, classics and many more.
The graphic novels are always on display and checked out constantly. Students will find their reading skills improving without knowing why, but knowing that they are enjoying reading.
Graphic novels are exciting.
They capture the attention like no other cover can. They practically scream "Read me". Children can't put them down. The biggest impact of graphic novels is that the student is improving their reading skills. Everyone wins with graphic novels.
