Ms. Hemphill from Pine Bluff AR is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 3 Nooks to allow them to conduct research/develop electronic stock portfolios to increase their financial literacy knowledge and real world experience.

Picture telling your students you would like to have Nooks in class. A student raises his hand to ask you, "Why are you trying to hide somewhere?" Stunned, you notice the rest the class with the same blank stare. Help us to bring our class into the 21st century with a donation of 3 Nooks!
This isn't your grandma's econ class.
My students and I breath life into economics. With lessons focusing on the power of money on our everyday lives, my students learn how to control, influence, and retain economic principles in order to lead fiscally responsible lives. With over a 70% free and reduced lunch population, my students are achievers that are able to conquer any challenge(s) placed before them. Their drive and determination to succeed in spite of their surroundings has inspired our school and our community to reexamine and renew efforts to help our town move forward in a more positive light.
One tool that has really changed the face of many classrooms is the Nook, an electronic tablet. Yet, there is no money available through our school. Often we have to look for cheaper options to provide the most engaging lessons possible for students. After spending this past year teaching the complex nature of supply/demand curves and PPL charts and plotting profit margins, using duct tape, dust Monsters, balls of paper, and actually squirming on the floor, it is time to electrify our lessons and bring economics to LIFE!
The Nook electronic tablet is a more cost effective effort for my existing classroom that wants to move into the 21st century classroom without it being a huge expense for our district.
No longer will my students and I be held hostage by the "Digital Divide" in our quest to travel down the information superhighway. With our new found freedom, my students will be able to learn how to travel down the road of economic empowerment.
