Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at Field Club are so eager to learn and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges. They are awesome kids who come from various, diverse backgrounds. Field Club is a Title 1 elementary school with close to 90% of the students qualifying for free or reduced lunch and nearly 50% of the kids are English Language Learners.
I work with the Gifted Learners at Field Club.
These students don't always have access to resources, and I would like to help bridge that gap. I want to help encourage and motivate them while fostering a love for learning and growing.
My Project
This project enables students to have the books they need so they can be part of an opportunity that promotes reading, collaboration and fun competition! I'm requesting three copies of each book.
The books will be displayed and made available for checkout to maximize their use and will reach many students!
These books are always checked out and I want to do what I can so that these incredible stories reach as many students as possible! All students in the school can read the books but students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades are invited to participate in the Nebraska Golden Sower book club and an annual reading competition.
This learning opportunity will specifically focus on critical thinking, creative thinking, inquiry and cultural proficiency. This project provides an exceptional opportunity for a community of learners to read more, meet new people and discover books in a new way. Students develop literacy skills and improve communication skills that will help throughout their entire lives. Students will make new friends and be a part of a positive community that supports each other. Let the magic of reading begin!
