This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach twenty-two 2nd-grade students. After two inconsistent academic years, many of my students entered the classroom below grade level. My students' determination to overcome the obstacles brought on by COVID-19 has been astonishing to witness. Every day I watch my students soak up knowledge with incredible enthusiasm. It is inspiring to see the passion they have for learning and the support they give one another.
My Project
The resources chosen for this project will help my students in many ways. For science, I requested a plant growth observation activity and markers. The students have science journals, but unfortunately, not all of my students arrived with school supplies at the beginning of the year. Only 50% of my students have markers. Markers will add colorful descriptions to the observations recorded in their journals. Due to COVID-19, many of my students are below grade level. A variety of math, phonics, and writing activities will help me meet my students where they are in each of these subjects.
