Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 4th grade classroom community is a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn. Although half of my students are English learners and are performing below grade level, our community of learners is supportive and encouraging. We celebrate all accomplishments, knowing that improvement and growth look different for each learner. These students write "Words of Affirmation" letters to each other, each week, to uplift each other and build self-esteem.
The amount of growth that these students have shown brings me to tears.
My heart warms with pride on a weekly basis, as I watch them use a growth mindset to reach their individual goals and achieve success!
My Project
These supplies will allow students to create backgrounds for their Gold Rush stations. Each station highlights some of the common activities of the era such as making candles, making butter, a blacksmith station, and game stations such as marbles and dominoes. The backgrounds will enhance each station and bring to life each group's visualization of the era.
Our school supplies paint; however, my students need paintbrushes in various sizes to add details to their pictures.
We will also utilize the oil pastels donated to enhance the vibrancy of colors. Your donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated and put to good use!
