My Students

My Kindergarten classroom is made up of a diverse group of students, with varying backgrounds, abilities, and access to technology. Because we are a charter school, with a unique program and educational focus, we have the unique opportunity to design our classrooms, schedules, and curriculum around our specific group of students' needs. Given this flexibility, we are able to put a greater emphasis on technology within our every day small group instructional time than typical schools. The students at our school are great leaders and are excited to be able to use technology whenever possible.

My Project

In my classroom, we do a variety of learning stations each day through our research-based program, Project CHILD. These stations include a reading and listening station, where wireless headphones would help students develop reading skills such as comprehension and fluency. If we were able to have wireless headphones, I could make more extension activities within my lesson planning.

It is my hope that by giving my students access to wireless headphones, we will help them to be successful in the tech careers of the future.

Additionally, by creating a technology-rich environment in my classroom, we can set our students up for success for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
