My 8th graders have been greatly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. We have been out of school since March 17; some students chose to stay home for a few days prior to that due to fear of contracting the virus.
My students are currently participating in online learning to continue their quest for learning while out due to COVID-19; however, it absolutely breaks my heart that they did not get to finish out the school year as planned.
They do not get to walk across the stage at 8th-grade graduation, celebrate their year at the inter-district mixer, or get to tour the high school with their fellow 8th-grade comrades.
My Project
Please help me give my students learning materials for distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are not able to leave their homes due to the quarantine in St. Louis County.
My team and I plan to put together a small gift bag for each of our 80 8th grade students containing items to get them through the rest of our remote learning; these kits will contain items they need, and also small treats to boost motivation.
My students need notebooks to continue note-taking, writing utensils, snacks to fill grumbling tummies, and critical thinking games like Rubix cubes to keep their minds busy.
I am hoping that by delivering these gifts to each of our students, they will be encouraged to continue to persevere during their time at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
