I teach third grade at an elementary school in Florida. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. We are a Title I school, which means that a high population of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students make coming to work a pleasure, however, we are now venturing into uncharted territory. I would like to provide them with a sense of normalcy the best way I can.
During this pandemic, many families are struggling to balance to their careers with the needs of their families.
My students are energetic, motivated, and eager to learn. They have been thrown into a situation that requires them to adapt to a new way of learning. I look forward to enhancing their educational experiences through distance learning, and I strive to keep my students motivated by making learning fun.
My Project
My third grade students are all at home with parents who are trying to work, parent, and teach. Many of my families have multiple children in different grades and have to take time to support my students in online instruction. .
Help me give my students the best support I can by having a whiteboard, webcam and document camera in my home for video lessons.
My project is to purchase the equipment necessary to effectively teach my students. This project includes all the basic supplies needed to deliver lessons during our new "normal" online teaching platform. The document camera, webcam and microphone will be used to create activities and lessons to engage students through the learning process. By having a whiteboard and expo markers in my home while teaching online, I can provide better visual instruction for my students who are staying safe and healthy in their homes. I can also give them interesting and engaging illustrations in literature, mathematics, social studies, and science. In addition, I will be able to provide modeling for parents that are doing their best to support learning in the home as we navigate through this pandemic together. Since we do not have access to our regular textbooks, a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will provide access to a wide variety of instruction materials needed for differentiated instruction. This resource also provides a number of teacher created digital lessons to assist in teaching online as we navigate down this unfamiliar path together.
