My students are caring, inquisitive, and active distance learners. They greet each day with a fresh, positive outlook. Being away from school and our classroom has not stopped their curiosity whatsoever!
I teach at a Title I school located in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite coming from a diverse background ranging from homelessness and split families to a low-income demographic, my students are eager to learn, even with schools closed, and do their best every day. I want to help them be successful in their distance learning in any way that I can!
Since schools closed in early March, my students have been learning how to adapt and overcome obstacles such as no internet connectivity, no technological devices, and lack of educational materials.
Basic supplies, like markers, crayons, playdoh, cards, and workbooks will greatly enhance distance learning at home.
Most of my students left many essential learning tools at school, and will be so excited to have supplies delivered to their homes. Receiving these items will help to ensure that students' learning continues, and their skills stay sharp during the ongoing school closures.
