“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss. My students are taken to a new location or learning a new life lesson that they can relate to every time they open a book!
My students enter our classroom with a thirst to learn, ESPECIALLY, with a thirst to read!
They are so energetic, eager to learn and are loving and caring. They consider themselves a family, a family that reads together. Sharing with each about the book they just finished or recommending a book to one other. Expressing their likes and dislikes of a book with each other and at the same time; learning without them even knowing it. If you entered our classroom, you will see children diving into a yummy book, disgusting where the book is taking them or what that book is teaching them. Then ultimately, taking their love of reading to other subjects within the class! My students truly have a love for learning and reading.
My Project
By providing a library filled with a variety of books it will give my student the element of choice. They will be able to pick books that have meaning to them or books that will introduce them to a new world or a different moment in time, instead of being told what to read. This statement stands true; "There is no doubt about it, kids who read more, are more likely to be seen as leaders to their peers due to their expert knowledge because of reading." The variety-filled library of books will help my students to learn about cool new things, such as how the world works or about new exotic places around the globe. Having the power of choice within reading will foster a knowledge that will open up many doors in the future for them.
