Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students tend to come for homes of low socio-economic status. Many of them are responsible for taking care of siblings and major household chores out side of class. With all the work they do at home, it can sometimes be hard to get them to be motivated to do extra stuff at school. However, my students don't let that stop them when there is a job to get done.
These are students with lot of great ideas but few resources to develop the skills to accomplish ideas.
They have a lot to say to the world and a lot of personality.
My Project
We are requesting an Ipevo IW2 Wireless Interactive Whiteboard System, extra interactive pens, and batteries so that we can get students really engaged in learning. The interactive white board can be used in all aspects of learning math. We can use it for bell work, teacher directed instruction, and learning activities. The possibilities are endless and there are so many pre-made activities out there that will be easy to find activities that will meet my students at their level.
Learning new math concepts can be really daunting for a lot of kids, but by making it interactive and getting them physically involved in the process, they have a better chance of understanding.
