Going Green in South Carolina
My students need multicolored fine point write and wipe markers, 20 double-sided magnetic write and wipe lap boards, 24 black write and wipe markers with eraser caps, and a Canon scanner/printer unit.
I teach a small class of first graders (16-20 students). My school is well-known for its community involvement and for using technology in the classroom, but we sure do use a lot of paper!
Recently, my students have shown a keen interest in preserving the earth's natural resources. We are currently saving rain forests 100 acres at a time by reading books. The students recycle all the paper we use in our room. With a few more supplies, we could almost eliminate the need for paper in our classroom! The kids really want to "go green" to save trees.
My room has recently been equipped with a Promethean Board! It is a large projection screen that uses an electronic pen allowing students to write, browse the Internet, and present projects to the class. We use it daily, and some of my kids consider it a huge video game because it makes learning so fun! With a scanner, we could scan various worksheets and do them together on the interactive Promethean Board instead of running 20 copies for the class. And if we had a class set of student wipe off boards, we wouldn't need to use as much handwriting and notebook paper.
Please help me help my kids save the earth, one tree at a time!! I've never seen a group of kids so intent on preserving the earth for others.
