Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our K-5 school represents over 900 students from different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status. We have high expectations and our students consistently rise to meet those expectations.
Our Elementary Honor Society is a group of students that exemplify leadership behaviors.
These students applied and were selected based on their excellence. This group volunteers in our school and around our community to help others with trash clean up, yard work, animal care, fundraising and more. Our goal is to learn responsibility and care of others.
My Project
In the upcoming school year, we will be starting an Elementary Honor Society at our school. We will be selecting a group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who display leadership behaviors such as perseverance, honesty, generosity, positivity, hard-work, responsibility and kindness. This group will be seen as leaders at our school. We plan to do volunteer projects and fundraisers to contribute to our local community. The first of these projects will be to set up a recycling program at our school. We will use the cart to pick up recycling on a weekly basis from classrooms and take it out to the recycling dumpster. The gloves will help our students avoid paper cuts or other injuries during this process. The large recycle bin will be placed in our cafeteria so that we can reduce plastic waste and recycle many items that are currently going into the local landfill.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams.
We would like to inspire students to inspire other students. Projects like this recycle project will hopefully spread kindness and grow students who are excited give back to the community that supports them. Thank you in advance for supporting us in the exciting new endeavor.
