My students need 24 frogs along with dissection materials to have the opportunity to work in groups in science class to dissect and learn about the organs and body systems of animals.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in Arkansas. We are a Title 1 school. Many of the students live in poverty. About 90% of our students receive free and/or reduced-price lunch. We have many ELL students due to our population makeup. Many of the students lack exposure and vocabulary needed to succeed in science. They are very eager to learn and need the opportunities to learn in a hands-on and meaningful way. This is their first year to have a lab along with their science class. We are looking forward to a great year filled with learning many meaningful and exciting science skills.
My Project
Albert Einstein said, "Curiosity has its own reason for existing", and I want my students to apply this quote in my classroom every day in science! I hope that my students are given the opportunity to experience this hands-on activity which will help to create their curiosity.
Our school's population has a free/reduced-price lunch rate of 90% and an ELL population of 85%.
Due to the makeup of our students, many lack experience and background knowledge necessary to succeed in science. They are excited about learning and need the opportunity to experience science in a meaningful way. I want my students to experience science rather than read about science.
My goal is to obtain frogs, dissection kits, and trays to allow my students to gain a greater understanding of the organs and body systems of animals. These frogs will give my students the experience of real-world science. They will "be scientists"! This experience will enhance their ability to write about what they have learned in science, and for most students, it will be their first opportunity to experience a dissection!
I want to create a classroom where students are engaged in student-centered, real-world, hands-on activities that will enhance their learning experiences. Having frogs will allow my students the opportunity to develop scientific knowledge through understanding of scientific concepts in this hands-on inquiry.
