I teach at a middle school in North Texas. We are a Title 1 school with a diverse population of students. My classroom is in a potable building, but I and my students love it, as it can get load when we sing and dance while learning Spanish.
My students are a diverse group of amazing individuals, who strive for greatness.
They are inquisitive about the language and the culture. They are open-minded and fun to have in my class. They always put a smile on my face and make me laugh. Mis estudiantes son personas asombrosas.
As a language teacher I am always looking for new ways to help my students acquire the second language, moving away from memorization but to actually internalizing the information to be able to retrieve it later to use it for communication. Comprehensible input (CI) is one way to do this.
Going desk-less helps in achieving that goal, as students are more focus on the input and are not distracted or hide behind the desk.
The first part of CI is mainly audio, listening and speaking, but when the writing portion of it comes, it is important for me that my students have a comfortable space for them to use.
