Our school is filled with curious and diverse young learners who love to learn! As media coordinator, I have the privilege of teaching and building relationships with all 800 students at our school. My students come from various backgrounds with 100% being served free breakfast and 75% being served free or reduced price lunch.
My students do not allow their challenges to deter them from exploring new ideas or learning new information.
Instead, their differences and diverse needs are embraced which has created an engaging, challenging, and welcoming learning environment within the media center.
My Project
After observing and researching insects, my students need to be able to take what they have learned and design and build the creatures they have studied. Students will use their choice of either the 3D printer filament or Legos to create a model of their insect.
This activity will not only be a great learning experience for my students, but something they will be sure to remember!
After building and designing their insects, students will develop educational videos which will teach viewers about the insects they have researched and modeled.
As an extension activity, students will have the opportunity to create their own insect using their imagination! This will include student created insect facts as well as a Lego or 3D printer model of the fictional insect.
