Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful, hardworking fifth graders that live in a low socioeconomic community in California. Even though they're up against the odds, they show up every day eager to learn and work. My students are still at an age where they are passionate about learning and curious about the world. Being from a poor community, many of my students come to school without the basic materials to be successful in school. Unfortunately, our school isn't able to provide them with all the materials they need either because of budget restrictions. I believe that students can only succeed if they have the materials they need. As our future workforce, I believe it is imperative that they are prepared and have all the supplies they need in the classroom in order to prepare them for their future careers.
My Project
My students come from a low socioeconomic area. Many students come to school without the basic supplies that they need to be successful. Unfortunately, my school is only able to provide my students with a minimal amount of supplies due to budget restrictions. My goal is to help their parents by getting whatever supplies I can for them. My hope is to have everything they will need so they can focus on their education and not stress about the supplies they need. I envision my students starting of the year with all of the supplies they need. Students who are prepared perform better in school. The pencils, lead pencils, and erasers will allow my students to work on writing assignment. The sharpener will allow me to have extra pencils ready for whenever they need a replacement. My students will be able to color in their work with the colored pencils and crayons. My students will be able to use the lined paper to take notes and the graph paper during math.
