Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in Williamsburg Brooklyn, New York. The children at our school are wonderful and a joy to teach. Most of our students are faced with the hardest challenges, but are always ready to tackle the tasks that await them, with smiles on their faces as they enter the school building. A majority of my students have never experienced life outside of Brooklyn, so these unique materials will help them experience history and historical events firsthand. They should know how our world was developed since they are such an important part to it!
My fourth grade students are just starting to understand their uproots and how our society all started!
My students come to school everyday prepared to learn and meet new academic challenges. They present different cultures, however, we stand together as a school community. With your help they will be given opportunities that will enhance their educational journey.
My Project
My students will be introduced to a new Social Studies Curriculum this year as they start their new school year in September. With your help, they will be able to touch, feel, and visualize history with these materials. It is imperative that the children are provided with an authentic, yet tangible learning experience so that they can understand how our society was developed. Students can be taught history, however, it becomes much more meaningful and memorable when you see what you are learning about. I have hand-picked materials that align to each unit, which will make a difference in my students' learning experience. The materials include books, items people have used in the past, and visual charts and posters to enhance their learning rather than just reading about it theough textbooks.
