My fourth graders attend school in a small rural district. Most of the students in the district qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. A lot of these students come to school without the basic supplies needed. This is an amazing district that cares tremendously about the students that attend school here.
These students are very motivated to learn and achieve new things, but they do not always have resources available to them.
They are great kids and they deserve to have the very best, just like any other students.
Any donations made to this project will make a significant difference in the lives of not just the children that are in my classroom this school year, but also all the students that will come into my classroom in the future. These projects are so special because it gives my students a connection to the outside world. It helps me get across to them that the world is bigger than they know. I make sure to let them know that there are people out there other than me, their parents and family that care a great deal about their education and their future.
My Project
Funding this project will allow my students to stay active during daily lessons and indoor recess when we are experiencing inclement weather. One of the biggest challenges we face in the classroom is keeping the students engaged and alert. The flexible seating provides assistance to those students who need to be constantly moving without throwing off their attention or distracting others.
Staying active throughout the day is important for keeping students minds fresh and focused.
We will use the balance balls, dome arches, and hoopklipperz to create obstacle courses that will provide a fun and active environment when the weather prevents us from going outside for recess. These obstacle courses will also be helpful tools when building motor skills and coordination.
