Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students at my school are from all over the world. Most have moved to Michigan to seek a better life. Most have bare necessities and appreciate the basic needs.
Students are from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.
Their parents have moved to the United States for a better life. These students are very humble and appreciative. Many students have overcome major obstacles while living in the United States.
My students come to my Physical Education class and show their appreciation by their kindness and attentiveness. Students value Physical Education and know how important it is to be healthy. With that being said, most sports my students play seem to be a way for my students to forget about their everyday struggles. Gangs, drugs, and violence are a commonality in my school's community.
My Project
Students at my school worship the game of soccer. Unfortunately, our goals and nets are nothing to worship. Our soccer goals are long overdue for an upgrade. Our nets have holes in them, and the frames to the goals are falling apart. The equipment at my school is a reflection of the pride my students take in their sports....especially soccer.
Our school has won our city's soccer championship for at least two years straight.
If you go by our local park, students are constantly practicing with their team or by themselves. My school is known as the powerhouse in our district. Students would be elated with new nets.
