My Students
My class is a mixture of varying levels of English Language Learners. I have students who are brand new to this country and the school scene as a whole. I have quite a few that do not even speak English beyond the simplest of words which makes communication very difficult. I have students who communicate decently and need a little push to get them up to where they should be academically. I also have students who communicate very well and just need more structured and varied learning.
My Project
I have been so very fortunate to get two projects funded this year and I have seen firsthand how beneficial they have been! My reading levels have gone up, math scores have soared and even spelling has increased drastically! I would attribute my students' success to the use of Front Row, a website that we have been using on our tablets. I am asking for these Fire tablets so each student has their own to work on and increase their learning. I am asking for the silicone covers so that we can protect this valuable resource. The headphones are to help us focus on our own work, and keep from distracting others working in the classroom. My goal is to bridge our shrinking gap to one tablet per student. Right now, I have thirteen that were funded by our two previous projects and one that I donated on my own. I have twenty-one students, so I will be aiming for two in each project until we reach our goal. This will allow for each student to be able to use the Front Row website more frequently, as well as explore other new applications such as Xtra Math, Epic and many others that I have learned about from other educators. With your help, I know we can get to the finish line.
