I have five wonderful students in my elementary intensive Special Needs classroom. My students are special and unique in their own ways but they all share sweet natures, are fun loving and love, love, love to learn. They have shown me that by raising the bar they will rise to the challenge. Their disabilities range from a child with autism to serious medical issues and I have one delightful girl in a wheelchair.
I teach students with Special Needs because I am passionate about creating positive outcomes and expanding life experiences for every one of them.
They inspire me to do my very best to make a real difference in their lives. I work hard to build connections, friendships and self-esteem for each and every one of them. To see them blossoming brings me pure joy as their teacher.
My Project
These outings have a special place in our year and our hearts as we strive to build empathy, inclusion and understanding of my special education students in our General Education peers and the wider community. Our aim is to build lasting friendships with peers and provide opportunities for everyone to have fun and learn about each other.
Help my Special Needs students get out in the community with our Friendship Circle friends and shine by funding our buses and wheelchair taxis to these events!
My students love going to the Special Olympics and Bowling with our General Education peers, but we need a big bus and a wheelchair taxi to get us there. Our peers coach my students in the Olympic events and help us to have fun and to participate to the best of our ability. With your help they also get the chance to be ordinary kiddoes, hanging out with their friends at the Bowling Alley.
