Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all take computer science classes and are miles ahead of me on my ability in the subject. The students have been using different digital audio workstations in my class to create digital music, and picking the subject up quickly with much enjoyment.
The group of programmers present in my classes creates a focused environment for students to practice a strong work ethic.
These students often push the limits of each assignment and bring something truly special to their creative work.
My Project
As a musician I value being able to watch yourself perform as it helps us recognize our mistakes objectively or through the lens of an outside viewer who may not be so objective.
When I was student teaching it was very effective for me to record my lessons and watch them focusing on my use of language and teaching techniques.
Being the only music teacher in the school it is hard to get honest and accurate feedback about my music pedagogy. I feel if I can record myself teaching I will continue to grow as a teacher from watching myself teach focusing on key areas of the Danielson rubric my administrators use to evaluate me. I will also be able to create instrumental tutorial videos for students to access on their own time allowing them to advance their techniques independently.
