This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful lovers of books. My students love to learn. They are like sponges and soak up new information from books. Books provide them with a window to the world around them. When I read aloud a book, they are so engaged with the text.
However, reading and writing independently can be a struggle for many of my students.
Many are reading 1 or 2 years below grade level. They need reading intervention in a small group setting to help bring them to grade level. My classroom provides reading intervention to small groups of students throughout the school day.
My Project
As an intervention reading teacher, I teach fast paced lessons to bring struggling readers and writers to grade level. I observe and record student data daily. In the past, I have used a system that includes lots of paper documents for each student. Using the iPad in the classroom would make student document management more efficient and convenient. Also, the iPad can record students reading aloud. This would allow students to monitor their reading behaviors in a unique way.
Reading progress will be shared with students and parents.
The iPad is an efficient alternative compared to paper. It will be used daily to record, analyze, organize, and report student growth. I can give paperless assessments with the iPad, plan and teach more effectively. Help me support my reading and writing rock star students with an iPad.
