This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach grade 7 mathematics in a title one school located in New York. Our school is a K-8 school and consists of three to four classes per grade.
I want to inspire my students to be more earth conscious and conserve energy. We started a recycling program and each 7th grade class has recycle bins and focuses on recycling paper. Our next focus is to use less electricity during the day. Therefore, we would like to switch from electric sharpeners to using manual sharpeners.
I want to focus on the little things our students can do to improve the environment. I want them to realize that change begins with them not corporations.
I want to empower my students so that they can realize the impact that one person can make.
