With over 75% free and reduced-price lunch, many of my students don't have access to everyday technology and advances. My students come from working and lower-class families that often do not have the money for the latest gadgets.
With so much structure and focus on testing and standards, students need the time to let loose and let their creative juices flow.
Regardless of their situations in life, my students want to play with the newest gadgets and toys. They deserve the chance to learn and the opportunity to explore. They are eager to explore, to create, and to break into the world of science, technology, engineering, and math!
My Project
These are student selected items to purchase using gift codes received from completing classroom projects. Some are class or small group incentives some are individual incentives. As students completed the assignments to earn the credit, I feel that students should get to choose what their incentives are. Thank you, Google for creating projects where students can earn credits on DonorsChoose. These are great ways to motivate some students who need an extra push to try out a new lesson or idea. We would love to be able to use these without filling out "project" pages for the items selected. Students showed their individuality in their choices and worked hard to earn these incentives.
Students will use the Alexa Dots in the classroom.
Photoshop will be a great tool in using for digital and graphic design projects for the classroom and for students' personal choice projects. The Adaptors, chargers, airpod covers, etc will be used in free time projects. A digital notepad will allow students to transfer what they draw onto their computers.
