Help me give my students guided reading books for my students in order to improve their reading since many of them are reading significantly below grade level.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My fourth grade students live in a small community, however, their families are far from being affluent with over 80% qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Some are coming to school ready to fully engage, others have many real-life obstacles to overcome before they can be ready to focus on learning. We lack the materials needed to have successful and meaningful classes properly supplied. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
My Project
These books will help me support my students in increasing their reading skills. By having access to a variety of lower-level readers, my students will be able to be engaged in a variety of different texts. These texts will give a variety of books for students to read as a part of their reading intervention. Having multiple copies of the same book title will assist me in the classroom small group setting.
This will help them increase their overall reading skills, as well as, give them books that they are able to read independently.
Being able to read independently will boost their confidence.
