My Students

My colleague and I are speech therapists and work in an amazing school in NYC with students of all different backgrounds and skills in grades pre-k through 5. A benefit of our job which is one of the most rewarding parts is that we get to work with our students closely and watch them grow throughout the years. It is incredible to see them carrying over the skills and strategies we have taught them in the classroom to be successful socially and academically. I have been working in this school for many years and are fortunate enough to have gathered a lot of material to support our students however I do not have our own classroom and I am traveling from room to room every half hour which limits the number of materials I can carry and use with our students. We were recently speaking with other colleagues about our struggle and they suggested using an iPad which would allow us to have more material with us right at our fingertips. They suggested many different apps and programs that would help our students reach their goals. I would love to each use an iPad to maximize our therapy sessions.

My Project

Space is limited in our NYC public school and we are traveling from classroom to classroom to service our students. We would love to be able to maximize our therapy sessions by having more materials with us at all times without carrying a lot of materials. The iPad has beneficial apps for facilitating language skills and at the same time keeps the students engaged and interested in learning. Please help us provide the best on the go therapy for our students which will ultimately help them meet their goals and become successful communicators in the classroom and in their future!
