My students need supplies for their interactive notebooks this school year. I purchased notebooks for their use but they need the glue, paper, pencils and organization supplies to make their year successful.
As a teacher in a low income school district in South Carolina, my students face challenges in providing their supplies and materials. Because of the financial constraints my students and their families face, many of them come to class unprepared every day. These same students often ask to take classroom supplies home and I have to say no because I can only provide so many pencils (colored or regular) and paper before they are all gone and no one would have any supplies to use in class.
Through teaching Social Studies, we spend time examining mankind's past and making inferences and conclusions based on what we read.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
With the use of interactive notebooks this school year, students need glue sticks, scissors and pencils every day. I am lucky enough to have scissors available for their use. However, glue sticks last about 2-3 weeks when used for interactive notebooks. Most students do not have pencils, and it is my responsibility to supply pencils to my students. Dry erase markers and file organizers are critical to keeping the students informed and organized in the year ahead.
With these supplies, students will be prepared for the year ahead.
My goals is to ensure student have everything they need when they enter my classroom to help them be successful.
