Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm a fifth grade teacher who teaches 42 curious minds that are ready to learn! My main goal is to offer my students the opportunity to learn in various ways that will help make them successful. They love to read, write and are eager to learn new things!
I work with English Language Learners who come from low socioeconomic homes.
Despite this, they are ready to learn and ready to become the future leaders of this country.
They are great kids that are eager to be engaged with reading in different ways. I want them to find a love for literacy like I found when I was their age.
My Project
As a reading teacher it is often hard to get students excited about reading. My goal is to foster the love of reading in each one of the children that walks into my classroom and see the importance of being great reader!
These items would help me create a day that my students would never forget!
The black lights, tape and decorations would serve to plan several glow days to help engage them in reading. These materials would help illuminate their learning in a way they never imagined.
Providing them with engaging activities they can see that learning doesn't have to be boring and keep them engaged while they work in this new and fun day. The black lights would provide the pop that our highlighters need as we annotate and provide our evidence as we read through a passage. The colored tapes and decorations would offer a way to create minute to win it games to keep the engagement at an all time high!
These materials would not only help engage my current students but many more for years to come.
