Glow Party Math: Memorable Math using Black lights!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from high poverty, but it does not stop them from being eager to learn. We are a Title I school, and we are a free lunch campus. They are an exceptional group of students.
I truly have a great group of kids.
They work really hard and have such amazing personalities. They are very resilient, caring, and supportive of one another. I told them at the beginning of the year that we're a family, and they have carried that with them. They often remind their classmates that we are a family and that we need to look out for one another. I feel honored to know them and to get to spend so much time with them, encouraging, supporting, motivating, and reassuring them.

My Project
I recently read about Black Light Math Glow Parties and I was inspired. I've talked to other teachers who have turned their classrooms into a fun place to work on multiplication facts, addition/subtraction, division, fractions, geometry, and more using black lights and highlighters. I believe that if we make learning fun, it will inspire students to work hard and achieve success. I hope to have fun on Fridays by turning the classroom into a party to practice our Math facts and Math skills. In addition to the Glow Party, our class treasure box is nearly empty. I have requested toys and snacks to help me encourage my kids to pass their Math lessons, score high on benchmarks, and complete their homework. I know that it is best to intrinsically motivate children, but I have seen them work really hard to earn a bag of chips or a fidget spinner. I want them to enjoy the rewards of their hard work, and I need more prizes to do that. I love these students and I want them to love school and learning as much as I do!
